Want, normal, pregnancy, Fear



Question by Super Radical: Is it normal to not want sex for fear of pregnancy?

Me and my boyfriend have been together for a year and a half, and have been sexually active for most of that time. I've had times that I thought I was pregnant, and they were horrible and terrifying.

I know that contraception can be very effective, but there is really no safe time or way to have sex. So I've told my boyfriend that I really don't want sex anymore. Is it normal to feel this way?

I think it's a responsible point of view! If you know that you are not ready for a baby yet, than the choice you have made is very normal! You are right, you can use contraceptives but the only way to know that you will not get pregnant is to not have sex. I got pregnant using contraceptives and I know a lot of other women who have too! There are just no guarantees!
